Dead Island Riptide has shown off screens and CG trailers and special editions and disembodied torsos, but it's been very light on actual gameplay footage. That changes today with a lengthy walkthrough of nearly 10 minutes of gameplay.

The footage features creative producer Alex Toplansky covering some basic mechanics, how to travel around the island, new items, and a tower defense element. Check out the video below to see it for yourself.

Guns were awesome in the right situations, they just weren't the last weapons you'd ever need.

For me it was just the simple fact that the melee combat was so fun I didn't care about the guns.
