Borderlands 2 producer promises level cap increase
by Steve Watts, Jan 17, 2013 5:00pm PSTIf you've been playing through Borderlands 2 on True Vault Hunter mode, playing each downloadable expansion to completion, and taking on raid bosses, chances are you've already hit the level 50 cap. We're about due for an increase, and Gearbox associate producer James Lopez has stated that one is on the way -- possibly very soon.
"We do have one planned, and it will be for quite a few levels which will allow you play for quite a bit longer," Lopez told Official PlayStation Magazine. "We also have a plan for Q1." It's unclear if Lopez means that the level cap increase will come in Q1, which would mean it's due by March, or if the increase would come later and other plans are in the works for this quarter. Shacknews has contacted Gearbox to clarify.
Lopez says that the Shift system gives the developer better insight about how players are progressing than judging by achievements and base its content on that feedback. "We wanted to give people enough time to get at least one level 50 in there, and then see from there, how many people are doing this," he said. "Is this a good time for this? We also didn't want to wait so long that people were no longer interested, or felt like it wasn’t coming."
The game's latest piece of downloadable content, Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt, came out this week. Check out my impressions for more details.
