January means cooler weather and darker skies, which makes it the right time to hide under a blanket with some video games. The Indie Royale "Snow Storm" bundle is suited for just this occasion, though we're fairly sure spoiled Floridians and Californians are still allowed to buy it in their balmy 70 degree winters.

The bundle includes Resonance, Hinterland, RoboBlitz, StarDrone, Project Aftermath, and RobotRiot. You'll also get soundtracks for all but Resonance and Project Aftermath, and paying more than $8 nets you the album "Planeteri" by Pixeljam. It comes with a visualizer tuned especially for each track, along with any other music you put through it. The current minimum for the set, as of the time of writing, is just under five bucks.

I thought so too, and it has some good ideas, but I found it very disappointing. Of all the adventures I've played recently it was my least favorite, and the only one I didn't bother finishing. I didn't care for most of the characters, the puzzles were unintuitive, and the atmosphere fell flat because of it. I haven't played a game with puzzles so inane since Space Quest 6. Had it been released around that time I would have thought they were trying to sell hint books.

That's disappointing. I've been meaning to pick up Resonance.

I replayed Space Quest 6 a few weeks ago. I couldn't agree more.

I liked it. It's definitely worth the price of the indie bundle anyway.
