Assassin's Creed movie finds its writer
by Steve Watts, Jan 15, 2013 11:00am PSTThe Assassin's Creed movie nailed down its star in Michael Fassbender and the backing of a popular franchise with deep pockets. Next it had to find a scribe, and Ubisoft has tapped a relatively unknown to film circles to handle the adaptation.
Up-and-comer Michael Lesslie will be penning the script, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Lesslie is well-known in the UK as a playwright, having written The Prince of Denmark that played at the National Theatre last year. He's also written a number of short films like Skirt and Heavy Metal Drummer.
Ubisoft is testing the waters of film production with this movie, with its new Ubisoft Motion Pictures venture. Ubisoft is working closely with production company New Regency. We're still unsure of who Fassbender will be playing in the adaptation: Desmond, Ezio, or otherwise.
