The top-down shooter Alien Breed will be getting two new platforms early next month. Team 17 has announced that the classic Amiga game will hit PlayStation 3 and Vita in early February, with a whole host of tweaks and additions to make it more welcoming to the modern set.

The studio announced the impending release on its Facebook page (via Joystiq), along with an outline of its extra features. You'll be able to play using the original visuals or "Enhanced" ones, and play local or online multiplayer on both systems. You can also play cross-platform, and take your save game progress from one system to another. The game also includes three new level packs called Convergence, Valiance, and Synergy.

If you're looking for a portable version but don't own a Vita, the game was released on the iOS App Store last year, and Team 17 promises an announcement is coming for an Android version.

Correction. Ios came first. But still! Hey, more companies should show more love for the Xperia Play.
