Weekend Confirmed 147 - Resonance, Tera, Kentucky Route Zero
by Jeff Mattas, Jan 11, 2013 11:00am PSTWith regular frontman Garnett Lee away enjoying the technological maelstrom of CES, Jeff Cannata helms this episode of Weekend Confirmed, with co-pilot "Indie" Jeff Mattas. The duo of Jeffs are joined by Joystiq's Xav de Matos and director Dan Trachtenberg to discuss a number of video games, both big and small. IGF nominee Kentucky Route Zero and Resonance get some love, Cannata and Dan rave about Tera, and Xav talks about his time with the multiplayer mech mayhem of Hawken. Finishing Moves brings the show to a close, but feel free to stick around for a short post-show playoff edition of the NFL TailGate.

Putting aside my opinions on The Walking Dead, this week's discussion thereof marked the moment when I made the "jerking off" gesture and turned off the podcast... in that order.
I still love hearing Jeff do the promos, though. Even if I never plan to read that Star Wars book, it's just plain fun to listen to you sell it.

You say what you want on the show is called integrity and it's good, and self-stifling out of respect for your audience is a violation of integrity?
Okay, I'm with you so far...
Me saying what I want in the threads is bullying, and self-stifling out of respect for others is the right thing to do in this case?
Honestly, I'll own my half of this argument, so yeah, that part's cool too...
But here's the thing:
You guys get to have this conversation in an isolated little box, and our only way to participate is through these threads. Yes, I was frustrated, and yes, the way I expressed that frustration was unclear and counter-productive. I opened my post with "I'm really sorry" and I meant it.
The reason I'm still fighting with you now has nothing to do with that anymore.
Despite all the numerous ways you could have handled the situation, you decided for the one that made a single point all too clear, and that point is that you see me as nothing more than a hater, that it's only logical to assume the worst intentions and most petty and childish motives possible, and that it's acceptable, if not noble, for you to continue to be dismissive and condescending on the grounds that you're allegedly standing up to a bully.
You said it yourself, you believe that I "deserve to be made fun of and belittled."
Honestly Jeff, did the jerking off thing upset you that much? Why not just say so? Do you think I'm that inhuman? That lacking in basic empathy? Do you think I'm so hateful as to be incapable of feeling remorse for saying hurtful things?
Your actions certainly make it seem as if you do.
You continue to call me a bully, and in doing so, you're implicitly declaring that I don't deserve to be listened to, and that's far more upsetting to me than any degree of name-calling.
