Update: Includes comments from the developer found in hidden message at the end of the trailer.

CD Projekt Red already had us intrigued with the thought of a Cyberpunk 2020-style game teleported some 57 years into the future. But its first teaser for Cyberpunk 2077 showing a bloodied blonde with alien-like augments kneeling in the middle of a mass of bodies just raised this game quite high on my want-to-play list. Oh, and bullets shatter on her face.

The trailer highlights the premise of the game where humans become addicted to cybernetics and eventually rebel against their biological "meatbag" existence. When these humans go nuts, as the blonde apparently has, the Psycho Squad is called in to bring them down. There is a hint that the woman may be recruited as a new member of the team. The song, "Bullets" by Archive, is a perfect fit for the video.

A bit more was revealed about the setting for the game as well, detailing Night City and a new addiction called the braindance, where people relive the actions and emotions of other people through what is essential a DVR augmentation for the brain. All the exhilaration without the effort.

In a message hidden near the end of the video, CD Projekt acknowledges that this is just a teaser and that they are working on a "proper trailer" for sometime in the future. The release of the open-world game is still way off, as the developer said it is still building its team for the game.

If anyone is wondering the (ill suited, in my opinion) backing song is "Bullets by Archive" according to soundhound.

Trailer doesn't make me want to play is as much as the original concept/hearing CD Projekt Red was making it did... Hoping gameplay is better/different.

I think cyberpunk will have a lot of 80's throwbacks and cheese that will clash with modern cultural sensibilities. Once people learn to embrace the kitsch alongside the high tech, they will learn to love the artistic choices made.

I remember when in the 90'ties CD Projekt was one of the first company to import legal games to Poland. 20 years later and look - their spin-off game studio becomes one of the most prominent RPG studios in the world.
Made me proud of being from Poland, and jealous that I am not working for them :D

I like the developer's past work and the last great scifi style game that seems similar to this was Deus Ex HR. Consider me on board but I assume the "when its ready" tag means not a chance in hell we get this in 2013. So, late 2014 or perhaps even 2015?

This is it...this is what gaming is about!
Perfect setting, atmosphere, everything is exactly the type of game I want to play!

And finally an atypical RPG. Sick of most RPG's having a fantasy setting with monsters and crap. However, I do hope it's very different from Witcher 1/2. The Witcher 2 is a great game but I couldn't keep playing it. It just was to difficult, and not the fun and challenging type of difficult either. It was too damn frustrating and rather unpolished.

Interesting setting but the trailer is kind of absurd. Why does the alien thing just sit there while they shoot at it? Why are they shooting at it if it's just sitting there? Why do they keep shooting even though the other guy is going to shoot the alien point-blank execution style? Why is the alien dressed like a whore?

If it can't be hurt by bullets then why do they keep shooting at it? Presumably this isn't the first bulletproof robot they have ever encountered.. Unless it is because it's an alien robot!

I think the better question is would you risk provoking a fight against something that your weapons would not be effective against? that appears be to what they were doing with the robot alien thing that was just chilling there on the ground.

You're assuming they knew in advance their weapons would be ineffective. Also they look like police or military, I'm guessing they don't have a choice but must offer resistance.

That seems to be the first time they shoot at her, since we see no previous impact marks. It could also be a diversion, allowing the MAX-TAC officer to close in from behind.

No, she still has the face scar from the first sequence when she's shown as a member of the psycho squad. I think she gets recruited after that massacre shown first. As going psycho often isn't your own fault in the CyberPunk setting, it isn't inconceivable that she gets treatment and a choice between prosecution or a stint in the cyber squad.

She is a cyberpsycho, a cyborg gone mad from having too many implants. That means she has a shitload of cybernetics, like subdermal armor, hidden weapons, enhanced reflexes, cybernetics limbs etc, and probably killed a fuckton of people before the psycho squad got there. Know your cyberpunk!

This doesn't explain how the one dude had time to walk up behind her and was getting ready to pop her execution style while the other police were still shooting and while the robot still hadn't responded in any way.
