Path of Exile open beta launches January 23
by Alice O'Connor, Jan 10, 2013 6:00am PSTYour clicking finger may be getting weak and lazy now Diablo 3 and Torchlight 2 have passed, but fortunately a new exercise regime is coming soon in the form of Path of Exile's open beta. Grinding Gear's PC action-RPG has been in pre-order beta for a while now, but all and sundry will get to play from January 23.
Path of Exile will run as free-to-play when it launches, funded by microtransactions for pretty things like dyes, pets, and unique looks for items and spells. "We are completely opposed to the concept of 'pay2win,'" Grinding Gear says.
The developer has raised over $1.8 million so far by selling beta membership in a variety of tiers, ranging from $10 to $1,000. They come with in-game currency, items, and other jazz. They'll come off sale once the open beta launches, so buy up now if you're interested.
Here's a recent trailer showing off one player's prized build, and the soon-to-be-opened Act 3:
Xbox One does not provide any built-in DVR capabilities
Xbox One increases friends lists to 1,000
Xbox One achievements dynamic, not limited to single games
Xbox One Kinect reading emotions and heart rate
