While Ubisoft puts the finishing touches on its alternate history campaign, it's keeping Assassin's Creed 3 Season Pass holders busy with multiplayer. The first multiplayer expansion, the "Battle Hardened Pack," is available today.

The Xbox Live Marketplace has already added the pack, and it will arrive on the PlayStation Network when its Store updates later today. The PC version will hit on January 15. The pack includes Charlestown, Fort St-Mathieu, and Saint Pierre maps, three more characters, and some customization items and Achievements. The new characters include the Governor, Coyote Man, and Highlander. We'd like to think the game discourages duplicate Highlander characters in a single match, because there can be only one.

The pack is $9.99 (800 MSP) on its own, or is included in the Season Pass for $30. Season Pass holders already received the Hidden Secrets pack as well, which included various pre-order goodies. The remaining DLC will consist of another multiplayer pack, and a three-part single-player campaign telling an alternate history in which Connor has to bring down a corrupt King George Washington.
