This probably ties into a larger point that I have been thinking about which is why a whole bunch of indie games appealed to me so much more this year. I increasingly find I want and look for more pure game experiences, that lock in on what they do and knock it out of the park and games like a Dishonored or a Darksiders or a Farcry feel like melting pots of all the cool trends in video games lathered with an singular art style but with a jack of all trades master of none approach to mechanics.
