IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad announced
by Steve Watts, Dec 17, 2012 12:45pm PSTPublisher 1C Company announced plans for IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad today. Developer 777 Studios will be helming the project, having earned its wings with the flight simulator Rise of Flight: The First Great Air War.
As you might guess from the title, the game will focus on the Eastern Front air war over Stalingrad in 1942-43. It will include single- and multiplayer modes, and is targeting a 2014 release with expansions to follow afterwards. 1C is already claiming this partnership will streamline the collaboration process for future titles, so this it's banking on success with this one to support more.
"The 777 Studios team is very excited to be partnering with such a publisher and developer like 1C," 777 president Jason Williams said in the announcement. "Their passion and support for PC combat flight-simulation as well as historical warfare titles has always been a blessing to these genres and we look forward to producing an excellent product for the Sturmovik legacy and continuing to bring additional content to our existing Rise of Flight product line."
