Machinima lays off more than 10% of staff
by Andrew Yoon, Dec 14, 2012 12:00pm PSTMachinima, one of YouTube's most popular channels, has laid off more than ten percent of its staff, including many in editorial. According to Machinima EIC Rob Smith, 23 of the company's 200 employees were let go today.
Speaking to Joystiq, Smith said that today's layoffs are part of the company's "growing pains," adding "Machinima has grown a lot in a short amount of time." Although editorial has been largely affected by today's reductions, Smith said that the company will focus on doing "editorial coverage in a slightly different way."
The company still has a number of job openings.

Back when I was looking for a job as a cinematic designer in the game industry, I contacted several ex-members of m*.com I thought were my friends, but they all basically told me I was not good enough and/or ignored me. That was the point when I decided that the game industry was not for me. I think my life is now much better because of this.
