Next Mass Effect game aiming for 2014-15 release
by Andrew Yoon, Dec 12, 2012 11:15am PSTUpdate: An EA representative has told Shacknews: "At no time did EA or BioWare provide any answers to questions from Gamer Syndrome." In addition, the source has since removed the interview, saying "the information provided previously by the author of this post was deemed to be obtained from an inaccurate source and NOT an official Bioware or EA interview response. We apologize for the inconvinience (sic)."
BioWare has made no effort to conceal the fact that it's working on a new Mass Effect game. In fact, the studio has already announced that the next game will move to a new development studio and will use a new engine: Frostbite 2. Given the drastically different direction the next game in the series proposes to take, it's no surprise that the next Mass Effect title won't be ready for a few years. BioWare producer Mike Gamble has confirmed that the next game is being prepped for a "late 2014 to mid-2015" launch.
"You'll hear more about the new Mass Effect game in 2013," Gamble told Gamer Syndrome (via Eurogamer). However, you won't hear much until then, because he admitted that "full development on the game started a month or two ago." Perhaps the team has finally decided if the game will be a sequel or a prequel?
Of course, before EA starts marketing the next Mass Effect game, there's still at least one more piece of DLC coming for Mass Effect 3, one that promises to be even more ambitious than previous expansions.
