In what seems to be an odd move, Humble Bundle has teamed with publisher THQ to offer seven PC games in its traditional pay-what-you-want packs. It marks the first time Humble has bundled games from a large publisher, while packaging Windows-only games and using the Steam DRM.

The package of games, which will be unlocked with Steam codes, includes Darksiders, Red Faction: Armageddon, Metro 2033, Company of Heroes and two CoH stand-alone expansions, Opposing Fronts and Tales of Valor. If you beat the average donation, you'll get Saints Row: The Third as a bonus.

The move is unusual as it goes against Humble's traditional indie games and anti-DRM stance. As for THQ, the cash-strapped publisher is apparently looking for money any way it can to survive. The company is already looking for buyers, and big games like Metro: Last Light and Company of Heroes 2 have been delayed.

Even though I already own Saints Row: The Third, Metro 2033 and Darksiders and am not even THAT interested in Company Of Heroes or Red Faction: Armageddon I still bought this for $16 and I might even increase that payment later on.

So far $10 to THQ, $5 to Child's Play/American Red Cross and $1 to the Humble Bundle people for making such insanely awesome deals.

I'll gift my brother SR3 this Christmas and since all the other games are activated with a single key I'm gonna buy another whole bundle, so I can gift away the other games, too.

I'm gladly supporting THQ with this, I fucking love them and it sucks they have such financial trouble. Oh, and donating money to charities such as Childs Play is always awesome as well.

by the way: in just about two or three hours the total payments went up from 98 thousand to now soon to be 800+ thousand and this bundle has still two weeks to go. This'll be the best-selling bundle ever and hopefully THQ will gain a lot from this.

We aren't desperate for money! NOPE! Not at all!

but it's quite a steal for Metro and the CoH series!

Seeing as how you can donate 100% of your payment to charity, I'd say that this is a pretty humble move by an ailing publisher.

That said, it might be prudent to donate your money to THQ since they're one of the most PC-friendly publishers and if they can stop fucking up (see that Homefront article) they might just survive this thing.

Just a reminder: You DO NOT get extra copies of any games you already own in steam!

As an aside though, you get two keys. One has Saints Row, the other has everything else.

So for somebody like me, who only needed Saints Row, it actually worked out great. Now I have a key to give to somebody else that has tons of great games.

      Number of purchases: about 370k

      Crazy.

Interesting that so many people have purchased it and yet the average price is still only $5.70. I guess people aren't as generous when it's not an indie publisher.

You'd notice the mac and linux buyers always gave significantly higher than the Windows people and that probably has something to do with it, this bundle not being available on Mac or Linux.

            Yeah, that's probably true.
Oh, but regarding the higher amounts paid by Mac and Linux users: their averages are based on quite a lot less people than Windows and with more people, come more of those who can't afford to pay very much but also ofc course more damn cheapskates. I can still imagine the Mac and Linux crowd also being a bit more generous though, as people who use Linux are usually a bit smarter, awesome folks and Mac users are used to having to spend much money, lol.
