GameFly has entered the realm of game publishing today, releasing its first game for the iOS entitled Writer Rumble. The game was a 2011 PAX 10 selection and was created by indie developer Feel Every Yummy.

The game lets players battle with words to improve spelling skills, and can be played solo or against friends via Bluetooth, or online Quick Matches. There is also a split screen mode where players can compete against each other on the same iPad.

The game is now available on the Apple App Store for iPhone and iPad for 99 cents. Downloadable content packs are also planned. It will be coming to Android early next year.

"We are thrilled to have an addictively fun, quality-driven game such as Writer Rumble as our first foray into publishing under the new GameFly Games label," said Sean Spector, GameFly co-founder and SVP of Business Development and Content. "Mobile gaming is an ever growing part of the gaming experience, and publishing high quality games is an important part of our digital strategy at GameFly."

"Writer Rumble has been a long journey for our small company, and we could not be more excited for people to be able to play it," said Gian Cruz, designer and co-founder of Feel Every Yummy. "We're very proud of this game, and are glad we could work with GameFly Games to take us through the home stretch to release it."

Shacknews is giving away copies of the game to the first three posters using the phrase "writer's block" in a comment in the Chatty thread below.

This game is a lot harder than I thought it would be, linking the words on the board is actually rather difficult. Especially when trying to think of the words you could make, I find myself only able to think of 4 letter words at the most while under pressure.

I'm going to get it for my iPhone. I'm a fan of word games so this is right up my alley. We won't be reviewing it because of the conflict of interest. But I'm definitely going to play it.

Heyyyy I thought this looked familiar. It was called "Word Fighter" during development and was in the Pax 10.
