Molyneux takes to Kickstarter for god-game Godus
by John Keefer, Nov 21, 2012 3:00pm PSTThe projects that Peter Molyneux's 22Cans are working on revolve around experiments. Curiosity involved learning what drives people to play. Molyneux's next experiment, entitled Project Godus, needs cooperation, and he has turned to Kickstarter to get it to the tune of £450,000.
Godus "blends the power, growth and scope of Populous with the detailed construction and multiplayer excitement of Dungeon Keeper and the intuitive interface and technical innovation of Black & White. The original Populous hailed from the 8-bit era but GODUS will use the most modern technology the world has to offer," the Kickstarter page explains. Molyneux himself tweeted: "Everything I am will be put into this."
Donations range from £5 backer to £5,000 "God of Gods" level, which would get a VIP pass to E3 (among other perks). The project will be developed for PC and mobile devices and is targeting a September 2013 release.
