BioWare Mythic dropping the 'BioWare' moniker
by Steve Watts, Nov 08, 2012 4:30pm PSTBioWare Mythic is dropping the "BioWare" part of its name, changing its name back to simply "Mythic." According to the company's announcement, this comes as the studio gains a "new focus," but it promises that current projects are still on-track.
The announcement (via GI.biz) was made at the Warhammer Online site. "Everything else stays the same - our passionate teams will continue to support and develop our existing titles as well as working on some new and exciting projects," the announcement reads. Current projects include Warhammer Online: Wrath of Heroes and Ultima Forever.
Electronic Arts changed the studio's name in 2009, during the height of BioWare's popularity. A series of poor fan reactions to BioWare's products is not necessarily responsible to the name change, but it certainly seems to follow logically.
