The Mortal Kombat movie teased last year will have a budget of approximately $40-50 million, according to studio sources. Warner Bros has now officially talked about the reboot, along with the return of Mortal Kombat Legacy director Kevin Tancharoen to helm the movie.

WB's Lance Sloan confirmed the film to Web Series Network (via CVG). "We're preparing right now for the Mortal Kombat film with Kevin Tancharoen, [who] directed the digital series for us," he said. "He's at the helm of the forty, fifty million dollar film." Rumors have stated that it will follow a supermarket employee who discovers his powers.

Carey Mulligan - My Fair Lady. I am totally down with that. Despite loving the original film. Can she actually sing? Colin Firth will seal the deal as far as my iwfe is concerned.

Dredd was fucking awesome! Far, far better than the Stalone movie.
But that's really more of a reboot than a remake.

I was ok reading the list since I'd gotten over robocop, then I saw The Crow, Starship Troopers, HOLY FUCK WARGAMES AND TIME BANDITS KILL ALL OF HUMANITY

Even proposing remaking Time Bandits should be grounds for dismissal from the industry, and there should be a court order preventing you from possessing a camera with a higher resolution than, say, 2MP.

That is crazy talk, Tom Cruise movies are still surprisingly fun and he's nuts - Apocalypto is fucking fantastic and Mel is nuts. Their movies need to be seperate from their temper issues or Xenu issues.

tom cruise is harmlessly nuts, but mel is hatefully nuts. screaming antisemitism is kind of a dealbreaker in this household

I don't see how that changes movies he did near 30 years ago. I guess the antisemitism didn't bother me, I find it ridiculously crazy but it doesn't directly impact me.

theoretically the movies still stand on their own, but i don't live in a vacuum. i wouldn't mind a reboot that didn't have that baggage.

The Japanese version of Death Note sucked, other than having The Chairman from Iron Chef as Light's dad, so why would they possibly remake it?
