As someone who doesn't care about the language the other people want to throw at me across the internet I find this troubling and a slippery slope.

Were women being barred from Xbox Live, I would be totally on board for an enforcement mechanism to allow them in, be it government or whatever else.
White people at the time (and to this day) were still allowed to hate black people and speak terribly to black people... and they did. They just weren't allowed to restrict the freedoms of black people anymore, which they never should have been allowed to do in the first place.
