EA's $50 Battlefield 3 Premium "subscription" has hit yet another milestone. The company has announced that more than two million players are taking advantage of Premium, which adds a number of new map packs for DICE's popular online shooter. Undoubtedly, a large portion of these subscribers are coming from Battlefield 3: Premium Edition, a $70 retail version that includes the Premium DLC. And although Activision hasn't revealed updated Call of Duty Elite numbers, today's announcement means that Battlefield has, essentially, caught up with Elite's 2 million subscribers. In addition, EA says that catalog sales of Battlefield 3 is outperforming expectations. Combined sales of Battlefield 3 and FIFA 12 are over 4 million units in the company's first half.

There weren't any BFBC2 DLC Sales... all the map packs were free. Well, on PC they were anyway.

I stopped playing when they followed Activision's COD Elite BS. I'll be damn if I'm going to pay another $50 for a couple maps. and they made you feel if you didn't buy premium you were left behind. Damn i miss the days of no DLC

        A couple of maps?

4 Maps a piece per DLC pack. 3 released, 2 more to go. I agree I liked the good old days when map packs were free. But to be fair these map packs are a bit more fleshed out than any free map pack that was released for free in any game I can remember, more vehicles, new game types etc.

In old speak I put the BF3 DLC packs as halfway between an Expansion Pack and a free map pack. And I feel at $10 each it's priced accordingly.

I don't regret Premium one bit, I'm still regularly playing a game that's now over a year old, I'm not doing that with any other game.

This wasn't some half assed effort here, pretty good support I have to say in terms of content. Plus if you look at other online retailers, you can get Premium for cheap since it was first offered. I still play the game almost daily.

Yeah, premium is great. Totally worth it, I really like how the content rolls out and the 2X xp events like right now.
