The on then off open beta for MechWarrior Online is finally on again, this time slated for Monday. Hopefully, developer Piranha Games has fixed the stability issues that will have delayed it for almost two weeks.

Other issues the developer has tried to address during the delay are improved matchmaking, balance tweaks, and pushing the Community Warfare feature back. The delay apparently hasn't hurt the free-to-play title, as it has already raked in more than $5 million through its Founder's program for players wanting to play the beta.

Played a bunch last night. Super solid and very rare to see less than a full/active team.

Good times! The latest patch has really opened up some great mech options at all levels with the addition of Endo Steel, Ferro Fibrous Armor, and Double Heat Sinks.

Case in point, my new Atlas AS7-RS

That's right, four large lasers, a gauss rifle, AMS, and a fully armored core. All running on a STANDARD 300 engine, with a heat efficiency of nearly 1.5, and Alpha firepower of 51. Double Heat Sinks made it possible for me to core most mechs in two alphas.

Except dual heatsink don't work at the moment

They do, there are just some issues to work out with the engine slots. You can get them working just fine if you strip the mech first and build from the ground up. Go stick 4 large lasers and 7 standard heat sinks on a mech with a 300 rated engine and let me know how that heat ratio works out for you without DHS.

but the double heat sinks don't dissipate double heat, only ~41% more than regular right now

        That's damn scary.

Looking forward to the last wipe on Monday. Game's back to feeling good imo. I'm surprised how much extra interest the new tech has added.

I run the K variant with 2 AMS and only 3 large lasers. More gauss rifle ammo makes up for the lack of a large laser over time. Very good team support vs heavy LRM teams :)

I prefer the D variant. I run it with max armour, 4 med. lasers, 2 SRM-6's with 3 tons of ammo, an LBX-10 AC with 3 tons of ammo, AMS with 1 ton of ammo and the rest of the weight goes into standard heatsinks. It's sick at close range.
