No NASA Hacking
by Maarten Goldstein, Jul 04, 2000 2:13pm PDTAs a follow up to Steve's story this morning, JLannoo emailed us about this article on ABCNews. Basically it's pretty much impossible someone could've hacked the communication channel between NASA and its astronauts. It would require a satellite uplink as the NASA command center isn't hooked up to the Internet, and there's no way an individual could gather enough resources for that.

Well fucking no shit... I could've told you that myself out of pure logic even though I wouldn't have had any proof.

CASE CLOSED. NASA was Hacked. Plain and simple.
"Panorama quoted NASA Inspector General Roberta Cross, but a spokesman for the space agency doubted a hacker attack had cut contact with Atlantis."
What does it mean when a 'spokesman' doubts something? (bullshit organizational denial) The quote in the BBC program is a DIRECT quote.
"Ed Campion, chief of media operations at Johnson Space Center in Houston, said he was trying to determine whether some sort of miscommunication had led to the report.
“There has never been a time where communications were shut down or compromised in any way,” Campion said.
“The specific command and control between Mission Control and the space shuttle are extremely well protected,” he said. "
Chief of Media Operations eh? WTF is that? Sounds like the boss of the 'spokesman' i mentioned earlier. Sounds like a guy who has a title and doesnt know JACK SHIT or his cousin BULL SHIT. And I bet he doesnt have anything to do with SATCOM links or NASA communications. Just a desk jockey with a new title is my bet.
"One former hacker questioned why NASA would have put its communications system on a public network. “If you’ve got secure information, very confidential information, you do not commit it to a public network. It’s a basic rule of security and it should not have been done,” said the former hacker, who declined to be identified."
Wow... how logical. That would be like a DCI (Director of Central Intelegence) creating documents that would be classified as 'top secret' or higher on a home computer and having an open link to the 'net via AOL. Anyone keep up with anything anymore? Esp you Duetch bag?
LMAO!
