SimCity delayed, now erecting on March 5

If you were thrilled by the recent lenghty demonstration of SimCity or the peek at its disasters, head on down to the shops now, buy a 2013 calendar, and draw a big heart around March 5. That's when Maxis's city-building sim will launch, see. It was previously slated to arrive in February.

The announcement came via a terse Tweet. No fanfare, no trailer with dubstep up the wazoo, just a date: March 5. It'll hit Europe three days later, as is customary, on March 8.

It'll be available in $60 regular and $80 Digital Deluxe editions, with the latter packing new buildings, vehicles, decor and the like inspired by European cities. Pre-ordering will get you, er, the 'Heroes and Villains' DLC, which adds superheroes and supervillains duking it out.

Now, about that calendar... why not make it one with photos of some nice cityscapes, or some nice cats in some nice cityscapes? Or some nice cats building some nice cityscapes?

I'd normally pick up a game like Simcity day one, but not for $60. That was a one time deal for me paying that much when I got Skyrim. I'll probably hold off until I see it on sale for $30 or less.

Can hardly get a meal for two for $60 and the night's over within a couple hours. $60 for a quality game like this is a pretty good deal. As soon as we collectively put our money where the value is, then annual rehashes and ripoffs will rapidly fall by the way side. If you love games like this, support them.

Why? SimCity is a fully featured AAA title, not some indie low budget game. $60 sounds normal.

Quite frankly, part of my hesitation comes down to the publisher being EA, and I'm concerned, based on their past performance, that they could manage to pull a "Spore", for example, and remove some of the most important, or exciting features before the game goes gold.

Price needs to be $50 or lower, even at $50 it would be tough to swallow. As a casual gamer, I don't buy games that cost $50-$60 any longer.

then dont buy it. top shelf games are going to cost 50-60$ from now until they go up. get used to it and dont expect your not buying them to change anything. If you cant afford it, wait for a sale or stick to indy games, but dont whine about prices.

Even a AAA title shouldn't be $60 if you're buying the digital version. You don't get physical DVD's, a box, physical manual, shipping, etc. Just the cost of downloading a few GB, yet they pass on none of the savings to the customer.
