Xbox SmartGlass promises Halo Waypoint, HBO Go support within a few months
by Steve Watts, Oct 24, 2012 6:00am PDTThe Xbox SmartGlass feature, first announced at E3 this year, is coming alongside the launch of Windows 8 later this week. Microsoft has outlined a few of the games and applications that will support it within the first few months, and the list is actually pretty substantial for a brand new piece of tech.
The Major Nelson blog gives word that it will work with Ascend, Dance Central 3, Forza Horizon, Kinect Sesame Street TV, and Halo Waypoint, among some others like Home Run Stars and Karaoke.
Several of the entertainment apps are in the works as well, including ESPN, NBA Game Time, UFC, the Elections 2012 app, HBO Go, MSN, NBC News, NOW TV, Slacker Radio, Today, and Univision. The announcement doesn't mention Netflix, though it would make sense that the functionality is coming eventually since a similar application already exists on PS3.
SmartGlass launches on October 26 alongside Windows 8. The announcement didn't detail which will come on launch day, and which will follow over the course of months.
