Ubisoft suing Black Eyed Peas for more than $1 million
by Steve Watts, Oct 17, 2012 11:15am PDTUbisoft wants to get that boom boom pow in court. The company is suing the Black Eyed Peas for its failure to cooperate with the release of an iOS game. The game was produced under the same contract that created The Black Eyed Peas Experience.
Ubisoft claims it spent 181,000 Euros (approximately $238,000 USD) developing the game. The company is claiming damages in excess of $1 million, which includes both development costs and lost profits.
Courthouse News (via GamesIndustry International) reports that the license gave Ubisoft permission to develop, produce, and distribute iOS, iPhone, and iPad games with the band's likenesses. A clause stated that BEP Music was to respond to the submission of any game within ten days, either with approvals or requested changes. Ubisoft submitted the game in March, and still hasn't received a response. The company cites "repeated requests" to receive a response since March.
