Wii U 'Pro' Controller promises 80 hours of battery life

The Wii U Pro controller is said to have 80 hours of battery life, but on the down side it's not backward compatible with Wii games.

The conspicuously 360-like Wii U Pro Controller should last you well into your gaming sessions, according to an estimate found on retail sites. The figure was probably provided by Nintendo itself, so take it with a grain of salt, but it is promising roughly three times the battery life of comparable current-gen controllers.

Both GameStop and Amazon cite the figure (via Nintendo Life), which makes it seem official from Nintendo. The bad news? The new descriptions also confirm that it's not backward-compatible with Wii games. That means any games that use the Wii Classic controller will still need you to plug one into your Wii remote to play on the Wii U.

One flub after a other for Nintendo. What happened to the company that dominated the maket with the SNES? Maybe I'm just getting old.

That's what I keep saying and everybody yells at me. Can you imagine if they didn't have to focus on hardware though and just released kick ass games on PS4 and Xbox 720?! That would be so awesome! Games are what they are good at, they should just focus on that.

They need to at least make it compatible with all virtual console titles. This is silly.

I don't know about Nintendo this time around... they are making a lot of bad decisions on this one... I think they got very lucky with the Wii and kind of stuck gold. I don't have a strong degree of confidence in them doing it this time around...
