MechWarrior Online open beta delayed

Good little MechWarrior that you are, you're may be reading this from your repurposed fighter jet seat, headset atop your melon, dual joysticks in hand and pedals underfoot, eagerly waiting for MechWarrior Online's open beta to launch today. Ah. Problem. You've clearly missed, as we did, developer Piranha's announcement on Friday that it has delayed the open beta to whip the stompy robot sim into better shape.

Ah. Problem. You've clearly missed, as we did, developer Piranha's announcement on Friday that it has delayed the open beta to whip the stompy robot sim into better shape.

"We agree that the game's current state of stability is not allowing us to get the latest experience across to new and veteran players alike," Piranha said in the announcement, prompted by player concerns about the game. "This is a short push back on the date and will depend on the stability and playability of the build."

Piranha goes on to detail changes and plans including an instability fix, a three-stage scheme for improving matchmaking, balance tweaks, pushing the Community Warfare feature back, and more.

"Game development is similar to trying to steer a very large ship. To make changes in direction takes time and accurate judgement calls," Piranha explained. "Even after the decision to change direction has been made, it takes a lot of time to make sure the change is working and the direction is valid. A lot of the feedback on the forums specifically are in the **** for implementation, but again it comes down to time to get them ready and tested before sending it out to you folks on the live servers."

I love it. Fits what I want for a play style. Been wanting a persistent game I can play casually and their setup is perfect for getting in and out quickly when you have a small amount of free time.

Well worth a founders pack for anyone wanting to join in immediately.

founders packs are done. And you can play fine without spending any money on the game. Its free to play, why do you want to spend money on it?

Aww ended Sunday. Just remembered it was still advertised when I last played Sunday. Maybe they'll bring it back since they pushed back the beta.

I don't mind supporting devs at all. Free to play is great because it brings in plenty of people. Devs gotta eat and pay for servers though. Don't let a game you like die just because it is "free to play."

The game deserves the support... and it's really nice to start out with enough money to actually buy a mech and not have to grind your way up with a pre-built mech you don't own and can't modify.

I thought there was a thread on it last week. Maybe I'm going crazy.
