Prey 2 not canceled, but 'in limbo'
by Steve Watts, Oct 15, 2012 3:00pm PDTWe've heard plenty of speculation about the fate of Prey 2, since a series of unfortunate circumstances befell the project. Today we've gotten a new piece of official word from Human Head, and it's what you might call less than encouraging. According to designer Nathan Cheever, the game "hasn't been officially canceled, only in limbo."
Cheever tweeted the update (via IGN). He later called this revelation "nothing new," since we already knew Bethesda indefinitely delayed the game due to "quality reasons."
Regardless, Cheever's tweet confirms a lack of forward progress since Bethesda gave that word way back on April 19, meaning it's spent almost six months in limbo. The emphasis on it not being officially canceled doesn't sound very positive either.
After the word of the delay hit, a source told Shacknews that Human Head had stopped working on the game in November of last year, as part of a contract dispute. Shortly after, the developer started gauging interest in a Rune sequel, and losing senior staff at a pretty dramatic pace. This may not be an official cancellation, but it's another sign that points toward that eventuality.

1) the game we saw demonstrated was really just scripted stuff that wasn't indicative of what they actually had. And after a lot of time and money they weren't doing a good job of getting closer to that "concept"
2) They're going to retarget the game for next gen.
