It's patch day today for Diablo 3. 1.0.5 adds the Infernal Machine event, doubles the drop rate of Legendary items, and gives players the chance to modify monster power for better experience and loot chance at all difficulty levels.

The official patch notes aren't available yet, but the PTR notes were updated late last week. Blizzard also went into detail on the Infernal Machine and monster power changes.

There were plenty of other tweaks and bug fixes, so make sure you give the final patch notes a scan so you don't end up dying when you weren't prepared for the changes.

Of course you can't actually play it because Battle.net is down.

Just jumped on to work on my HC inferno characters, the new changes to item rolls (now based on the level of the monster that drops it) is immediately noticable. Also got a legendary in a few minutes, so the doubled drop rate is probably going to be noticable too.

Going to take me a while to feel out the new MP scale, as that's not something to do lightly on HC, but I'm sure it will be a welcome addition.

D3 seems to be maturing as a game fairly nicely, no matter how much people love to complain on the forums. By the time an expansion will roll out, I think it will evolve quite a bit... mostly for the better.

I've pumped too much money into WoW (RIP) to ever do it again... still looking forward to a price drop on THIS game for $20. Definitely not playing $60 for this.
