Your next descent into hell with the Painkiller series is coming this Halloween. Painkiller Hell & Damnation will be available on PC on October 31, in both a $20 standard edition and a $30 CE.

The Collector's Edition will include a tarot card power up for single-player, multiplayer skin, posters and postcards from Hell, an art book, stickers, ten tracks from the soundtrack, and a making-of DVD.

The version releasing on Halloween is "totally uncut." However, a "toned-down" version will also be available on January 22nd--the same day as the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. The console versions will be available for $30 as well.

People Can Fly stopped making new Painkiller stuff after the first expansion, it's been different developers since. They did the Xbox port of Painkiller and helped with the PC port of Gears (I want to say they did the new content), then Epic bought then and they did Bulletstorm together, all while a bunch of other studios continued pumping out many more PK expansions.

There was a big segment of the original Painkiller developers who broke off and formed Flying Wild Hog, who released Hard Reset in 2011. Hard Reset had a lot of the same gameplay feel as Painkiller, and I feel that this is where the true spirit of the Painkiller gameplay resides, not Bulletstorm.

This is confusing. Is it just a remake of the original Painkiller? Does it have any new features? Why does it exist? Why would I buy it if I have the original games? Why does it only have 14 levels when the original had much more? WHYYYYYY
