Late Night Computing: October 5, 2012

By Tyler J. Smith, Oct 05, 2012 5:00pm PDT

Friday, October 5, 2012. Did you already know that it's the weekend? Let's celebrate with Late Night Computing.

Ten years ago, I would have never thought I'd ever read books on anything else than paper. Amazon with its Kindle changed all of that. Trying to find older books can sometimes be a giant pain in the rear end though. I've been trying to hunt down an eBook format of a book named Warday by Whitley Strieber and James Kunetka from 1985 to no avail, which explores the United States after a limited nuclear strike alters the course of the nation. Thankfully I was able to get my hands on a printed edition, but attempting to track it down proved...difficult. The future has spoiled us all.

Chatty posts of the moment.

Make sure you log-in and check your filters if you can't see the following:

  • "Planetside 2 TOTAL WIPE EDITION. Anyone played on Esamir yet? Snow terrain is going to be pretty cool. Good show last night, loved splitting the squads and taking Rashnu. Baker Squad splitting off and cutting Rashnu away from the NC was pretty sweet. That alone screwed up the NC influence there. On a side note, don't forget to roll your NC characters!" [by MercFox1]

  • "PS4 will have 4K support I can taste it seems like a sure thing. Recently Sony other push seems they have starting pimping 4K I really hope these screens and the PS4 will make this tech and vision blow our minds with > rez and > real estate for our games next round. " [by valcan_s]

Nightly file.

  • Gimbal demo 1.0. "Experience the unique Carrier Command: Gaea Mission gameplay by leading two demo-exclusive assaults on the islands of Thermopylae and Granite. Jump into the adrenaline-pumping combat by flying Mantas, driving Walruses and using tactics to guide your units". Download the free demo here.

See how your choices stack up against the rest of the player base in the third episode of The Walking Dead with a statistics trailer, visit the rather messy Rengot Village with a RaiderZ trailer, explore the Deep Ocean expansion for Anno 2070, view some opening credits for 007 Legends, and check out new screenshots for New Super Mario Bros. 2, World of Tanks, Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask, Paper Mario Sticker Star, Pokemon Black and White Version 2, Rambo: The Videogame, and Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed.
