Having most of my knowledge of guns from video games and movies it was a real eye opener actually trying them out. The most surprising thing for me was how accurate shotguns are. Games like Halo had taught me that shotguns fire a 45 degree cone and barely scratch someone 10 feet away but it's SO Different in reality. I remember hitting a water bottle at about 10 feet.
I was also surprised at the sound. Movies make guns sound so loud and bassy but the ones I fired all sounded really 'clacky' and piercing rather than booming and thunderous.
I also learned that firing a pistol from the hip with accuracy is almost impossible like the do in westerns when they quick draw. And feathering them almost tears your hand apart.
Firing the MG42 was my highlight tho. I wasn't prepared for just how fast that thing can fire. I nearly had a heart attack!
Good times.
