Developer Hammerpoint is offering three pre-order packages, starting at $19.50. That'll get a copy of the full game when it's finished, and beta access from October 31 for now. If you pay $29.99, you also get alpha access from October 15, plus $15 of in-game currency, 3 guests keys for a beta weekend, and a month of server hosting. Or, for $49.99, you get $30 of eCash and six months of hosting.

Those prices are going up to $29.99, $49.99, and $69.99 respectively on October 21, though.

Wow, I thought it was going to be a little more different. It's literally Day Z with barricades and a worse large area engine.

I don't get why shacknews isn't giving this much coverage to Zynga games? I hear Zynga has a sims like game that they are making. Or gameloft's newest halo-like game.

          Because Zynga is vile.

deathofrats, you do this every time a news post about war z is made. quit acting like day z is the first zombie shooter game ever.

Did i say Day Z was the first? I am saying War Z is a straight up zynga/gameloft of Day Z, from the look and feel straight down to the name. IT's brand confusion and it's vile.

You are completely clueless about game development if you think this game could have just been magically created in the 4 (?) months since Day Z came out

"Well, we're not really developing from scratch. The design and idea for The War Z has been in place for a couple of years - we only just started developing the specific features for the game in the past year. Our team has decades of experience and we are utilizing technology that has been around for several years now and has proven itself in games with over 2 million online players worldwide. We're also relying on a mass of data collected by our friends at Online Warmongers while operating War Inc. Battle Zone. "

That makes it sound like it is possible all the Day Z parts came after Day Z.

I never said it was created in 4 months, but if you watch the videos, you can see that it's incredibly rushed lookiing and buggy as if they had one game and retooled it quickly to ape DayZ's popularity.

it didnt look buggy to me, but it was kind of sparsely populated

Yeah, it's a lot more DayZ than I thought it would be. But it has at least one advantage... there is absolutely no way the inventory management is any worse than Arma II's!

As much as this looks like a complete ripoff, i think this will be popular if they beat the real dayz to the release date.

        I don't think so.

This'll just be like those minecraft clones. They'll sell some but once DayZ is out they get blown away.

          <<<Absolutely refuses.

Except Borderlands 2. You can charge me fifty cents for a magic key. I'd probably buy twenty bucks worth of those. Of course I got a whole game worth of game out of it up front, so it isn't exactly the same thing.

You'd pay twenty bucks for keys which only give you some digital weapons and stuff like that, even though you could duplicate those keys? lol Seriously, look it up, if you're that desperate for loot in B2.

Some say it looks just like DayZ... well i agree and as long as they make a proper game out of it i think it is great.

Other say that it is worst than DayZ, but i am yet to find a good explanation why it is bad, i mean saying that maps are bad or something else is bad... well did you play it? if you have, please give us some facts rather than just blind critique

And finally, they have a $19.99 starting price, i think it is a great starting price, compare to some really crappy games that some of those big companies sell for $60, so complaining about in game currency is unnecessary, unless you know of something like them selling POWER (better guns and armor)

So over all, i think it is a promising game for a reasonable $$... I am in!
