After being unceremoniously outed in yesterday's PlayStation Store update, Ubisoft has finally announced official details for Assassin's Creed 3's DLC Season Pass. Available for $29.99 (2400 Microsoft Points) on PS3, Xbox 360, PC, and Wii U, the Season Pass promises to offer five pieces of DLC over the six months following the game's release.

Two DLC packs will expand the multiplayer experience with more maps and characters. The other three will make up a brand new single player campaign called "The Tyranny of King Washington."

The three-episode single-player adventure will tell an "alternate history" after the events of the American Revolution. In this side-story, George Washington "succumbs to the temptation of infinite power" and Connor must dethrone "a tyrant he once called friend." It's unclear if this story will be considered canonical within the Assassin's Creed universe, but it certainly sounds like you'll be stabbing George Washington.

Executive producer Sebastien Puel said in a press release: "While Assassin's Creed 3 concentrates on history as it happens, we wanted to take some liberties with this DLC and tell you how things 'could have happened.'"

According to Ubisoft, the Season Pass represents a 25% savings over the individual pack prices. That means all five content packs would otherwise total $40. It's unclear if the multiplayer or single player DLC will cost more, but you can expect each release to cost an average of $8--helpful to know, if you plan on buying the expansions a la carte.

It also costs less to rent a movie than it does to see it in the theater

Yeah, which is why I haven't gone to the theater in a decade or more, or bought a AAA game at release, ever. Can get lots of games on sale or used, for the price of one like this.

The SP DLC interests me, I love Alternate History/reality stories.

I liked the Dark Side DLC for the Force Unleashed 1
