They had the opportunity to use it themselves, but a lot of Halo players are on some sort of retarded honor system apparently. Like the guys who complain about getting killed by rockets, but leave them lying there and refuse to use them because they're a "noob weapon".
It was a great way to survive cheap grenade spam, and even cheaper splatter kills from some tool driving around in a Ghost getting skill-less, unearned kills.
I understand it's problems in slowing down competitive matches, so they could have just taken it out of 4v4.
I was on the Waypoint forums, and apparently the consensus is that there are 7 "core" maps and 3 "forged" maps.
