Darksiders 2 for Wii U includes pre-order bonuses

Darksiders 2 on the Wii U will include several extras previously reserved for pre-orders in its original release, THQ has announced.

Darksiders 2 is coming to the Wii U a bit later than the other consoles, but THQ and Vigil Games are packing in a few extra goodies for the wait, in the form of pre-order bonuses bundled all together.

On the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, you had to pre-order to get an access code for the Argul's Tomb DLC, but it will be included with the Wii U whether you pre-order or not. You'll also get some retailer-exclusive pre-order bonuses: the Death Rides Pack, the Angel of Death and Shadow of Death packs, and the Deadly Despair Pack. These grant you three additional side-quests, sets of early legendary armor and weapons, and a speed boost to your horse, respectively. The announcement also promises additional unique legendary weapons and armor sets, but doesn't specify what they are.

The announcement also mentions using the Wii U GamePad to access inventory and abilities, which may cut down a bit on the menu sorting of the other versions.

If you find a place that still has preorders let me know.

I'm from England so there's not any problem with preorders right now.

The problem is that I want to pay £250-£270, not £300. I missed a couple of £270 deals but I remain hopeful.

Ah, well that would change things wouldn't it.

Not to sound like a hater or anything but maybe the WiiU will go the same way as the 3DS and a price drop could be just a few months behind the launch.

I only imagine this because I doubt consumers will be rushing to buy a console with the same name as the one they most likely have stored away by now due to it's lack of functionality. That and the rather confusing announcements surrounding it regarding bundles, the WiiU controller, and the need for the old Wii peripherals.

I say give it a few months and if it doesn't go down in price to what you want to pay then I apologise, if it does, your welcome.

I don't mind the price massively; I buy every Nintendo console at launch because they're fun and I want to support my favourite console company. I just want to get the best preorder deal I can.

Fair enough, I just feel I got stung by Nintendo on the 3DS. Especially when late adopters who bought the console at a cheaper price were able to use the Ambassador programme if they purchased the console from Gamestation.

The thought of playing Nintendo 1st party games in HD is almost too good to pass up. Does anyone know if Wii games will look improved on the Wii U or will it stay the same?

I don't think Wii games will be upscaled.

I'm a little fuzzy on this. The only thing I've heard is that it won't "up-res", which isn't the same as up-scaling.

            http://www.ign.com/wikis/wii-u/Frequently_Asked_Questions

"head of PR for Nintendo, revealed that the Wii U would not 'up-res' or upscale Wii games to an HD resolution."

"There's no mechanism to quote-unquote 'up-res' that unless we launch a brand-new game."

"the hardware will not be able to improve the resolution of Wii games."

It sounds like everybody's asking the wrong question. While not being able to up-res the games, they still should be able to up-scale them, but I wouldn't get my hopes up. Especially since they're not offering a lot of detail or extra info on the issue.
