Halo 4 will get Flood in multiplayer

343 Industries has revealed a "Flood" multiplayer mode in Halo 4, similar to the Infected variants from previous titles.

Halo 4 is mixing some old and new, bringing back the familiar Covenant enemies alongside the more alien Prometheans. The zombie-like Flood have been conspicuously absent, but 343 Industries has confirmed they will be making an appearance in their own dedicated multiplayer mode.

CVG reports that the "Flood" multiplayer variant will work a lot like the Infection mode from previous Halo games. It supports 10 players, two of whom are infected and trying to spread it to the other players.

This seems like a reasonable compromise, between the millions of Halo fans who are probably sick of the Flood, and the two that would be disappointed if they were removed from the game completely.

As long as it's not mandatory to the single player experience, don't you think it's fine?

I mean, yeah I know that feel bro, but if it's just a multiplayer mode, it seems easily ignorable. And maybe even fun.

just in mp is fine, if the flood is in sp I hope everyone of 343's employees gets cancer and dies.

What is wrong with you? Why would you ever wish cancer on anyone, I just don't get it... were you raised in prison or something? where do you even get a mentality like that? i mean, ok maybe in your opinion, the game development should take a different course and you care about this game to have emotional feeling towards it but still... i just don't get it...

I take exception to your statement. It should have been "I'll wish cancer on WHOMever I want." So offensive.

I would like to hear your exposition on how being raised in prison correlates to a presumed tendency to wish cancer on other people.

I just had an idea for a menu item if someone ever makes a Shacknews-themed restaurant.

                Breakfast: Biskits and pGharavi.

Looks like it's an option in just one mode, probably won't be that big an issue.

Excited for this. I'm sick of the Flood in SP but I'm sure they will appear in this trilogy at some point. Having this mode will give Infection a breath of fresh air. I always got bored with Infection, but this looks like it could be fun.

well, there is one multiplayer mode i wont play. Hands down, the most annoying part of halo single player. I was very happy it was all covenant in Reach.

You must not have read the article, or you lack basic logic skills. It's the Infection gametype. The only thing Flood aspect of the gametype would be your character model.

I have to agree, but I would consider myself sick of them being *overused* throughout the original trilogy. Though I did enjoy some of the set pieces in Halo 3 that had big battles between humans, covenant, and the flood. I'm sure some fans will miss them if they aren't included in the second game in a row.

        Ayup.

People can like/hate what they want, but Flood were a fine pace-changer for me. I'd guess that I enjoyed Flood-popping for the same reasons I like playing L4D.

The flood were the exact opposite of what made Halo fun. Halo had really interesting combat with the AI. The flood were boring zombies without the actual fiction of zombies that people like.

Makes sense in MP as a co-op mode with an infinite onslaught style of play.

The Flood is easily one of my favorite enemies in any game I've played, I don't get why people hate them so this is great news to me!

That makes me think of Serious Sam with the parts where tons of beheaded kamikazes spawn in an open area, and then it essentially becomes a game of flow control. That's pretty fun for a few minutes, but I think the Library went on way too long. I don't remember if there were static triggers for the Flood spawning, or a spawn timer, but it became a part of the game that I wanted to flat-out skip on replays.

Yeah it had both scripted and timed spawns, hated the library but I loved fighting the flood especially in Halo 2 and 3.

Hmm, it should have restarted you at previous checkpoint after so many deaths like the old ones did.
