Mists of Pandaria opens to invading World of Warcraft players

Players have been storming the shores of the panda lands since midnight PT with the launch of Mists of Pandaria, the latest expansion for World of Warcraft.

The Horde and Alliance are at war again, and it finally spilled over to the panda lands very early this morning with the launch of Mists of Pandaria, the newest expansion for World of Warcraft. Many players have been playing non-stop since the servers clicked over to the new content at midnight PT.

Players could begin their journey with the new monk class, become part of the new Pandaren race, or start taking an existing character through the newly discovered isle of Pandaria, where the level cap has been raised to 90. Of course, even if you don't have the expansion, you can become a Panda now, or any other race from a previous expansion for that matter.

Personally, I've been pushing my hunter through the island, fighting off Horde at every turn early on, along with some of the islands nastier inhabitants, such as the monkey-like Hozen that tend to thrown bananas as well as spears. Expect a few diary entries on my travels through the new zones.

If you have kept yourself in the dark about the new big thing from the 800-pound gorilla MMO, then you may want to check out the opening cinematic.

While my time with it is long passed, 9 million players isn't really a fart in the wind.

Just jaded...all of my old gang moved on from it. Was fun but the fat panda has sung.

All this time, I think I was doing it wrong. Soloed all the way (minus the occasional PUG) to 81.

And...that looks shit. Man, soooo glad I stopped playing this a couple years back.

Then again, 5 years on any game is probably too long.

It's almost ten years old now, it isn't gonna look like Skyrim.

If not for the fact that I have a fuck-ton of other stuff I want to do with my time (and GW2 scratches the MMO itch), I would be right back in it. Say what you want about Blizzard, they know how to get their hooks in ya!

Heh, well that's highly subjective. Never hooked me, though I did like vanilla, TBC and Wrath. Maybe it's you, not Blizz. ;)

Trailer looks awesome. But I just don't have the time for these games. They take too much away from your life.

I put in a few hours last night and did a bit of everything. I'm really liking what they've done.

If anyone is interested in a Res scroll or an invite a friend thing drop me an SM with your email and I'll hook you up.

Rolled a Pandaren monk with the lady, the intro storyline and zone for the race is really awesome. Super detailed, stellar animation as always, and a lot of effort was put into making it feel like a more cinematic experience. We haven't had time to check out much of the new upper level content on our mains yet but so far it seems great.

The new character creation system is kind of a shitpile though, and I'm still not sure how I feel about further simplifying the talent trees.

They really nailed the look and sound of everything. The pandaren starting area is pretty much identical to the first zone you start off in at 85, just with more going on.

I actually really like the new talent system. I picked up one of the vendor mounts that sells the item you need to reset talents/glyphs so that I would be able to do it on the fly. If I place where one talent would be better for me than the one i picked I can instantly swap. There isn't really a way to screw yourself now, and most of the new stuff gives you a new toy for whatever reason. It just lets you be more versitile instead of being locked into talents without a trip to town and a chunk of gold.

Sadly there are still some shitty talents, but one can only hope those will get taken care of at some point.

I haven't started a new guy yet, so I have no idea about the character creation thing now.
