Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix coming to PS3

Kingdom Hearts is finally coming to an HD console. Unfortunately for longtime fans, it isn't Kingdom Hearts 3. It isn't even a brand new spinoff game. It's the next best thing: an HD collection.
Kingdom Hearts 1.5 is coming to PS3, and it will include HD remastered versions of Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix, Re:Chain of Memories, and 358/2 Days. It's an odd collection selection of titles that originally released on PS2, Game Boy Advance, and Nintendo DS.
Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix is the "definitive" version of the first game in the franchise. Re:Chain of Memories was originally a Game Boy Advance game, but was remade into a full 3D game on PlayStation 2. Finally, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 was a Nintendo DS game. Famitsu (via Joystiq) reports that the game will not be playable. Instead, its cutscenes will be re-rendered in HD and will be viewable in a theater mode.
Kingdom Hearts 1.5 will be available on PS3 in Japan in 2013. No word yet on a North American release, but considering the popularity of the franchise, it seems inevitable.

I'm totally pumped for this. My only reservation at this point is if I really can't play through 358/2 Days. Still, finally getting the HD/Trophy support treatment for these games is awesome. If there wasn't some word during this TGS, I'd have lost all hope for it. Looking forward to the inevitable 2.5 HD Remix as well.

I would love this. KH was the first game I ever beat on my own. I was so excited to play 2 but then I tried playing it after playing a bunch of 360 stuff and it looked shitty :(

Love my brain! I literally just thought this past week, "Hey I wonder if Square will make an HD collection of KH. And if they do they will probably use the Final Mix version." Now BAM here you go exactly what you were hoping for.

No news on a Wii U version? My kids are really plugged into Disney right now, so they'd lose their minds if I scored that for Christmas.

Even if it were to come out on Wii U, right now the release is scheduled for 2013. Hope your kids are still into Disney when *next* Christmas rolls around.
