PS3 Super Slim coming next week, starting at $269
by Andrew Yoon, Sep 18, 2012 9:20pm PDTThe long-rumored redesigned PS3 is real. Sony took the stage at Tokyo Game Show to announce what many are calling the PS3 Super Slim. Half the size of the original PS3, and 25% smaller than the slim PS3, it will be available in North America next week, starting at $269 for a 250GB system. A larger 500GB model will be available for $299.
Oddly, the starting price for the PS3 is now more expensive than it was previously ($249). However, that's because the system now includes a game. The 250GB model will include Uncharted 3: Game of the Year Edition and a voucher for $30 of "bonus digital content" for use in free-to-play MMO shooter DUST 514.
The 500GB PS3 will also be available in a limited edition bundle on October 30th, which includes a copy of Assassin's Creed 3.

Turns out that even when you play a PS or PS2 game in 480i on an SDTV, they lag like crazy. Gradius is unplayable, as I'm sure older wipeouts and fighting games are too. Totally unacceptable.
Because of that, I will eventually get one of these new slim guys and sell my BC model. No hurry though, the BC model will retain it's value ($200-250) and these super slims will eventually drop in price.
