Nothing wins over the Japanese market quite like Monster Hunter, and Nintendo made a shot directly at it during today's Wii U conference. The company announced that Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate will hit the Wii U and 3DS in March of next year.
Most exciting for fans of the series may be the ability to progress in the two games simultaneously with the same save data, giving a cross-platform approach reminiscent of Sony's recent moves with the PlayStation 3 and Vita. Wii U players can also play locally with 3DS players, and 3DS owners can get into four-player local matches on the system. In the 3DS version, you can exchange your "guild card" via StreetPass.
Yeah, it blows, but you really kinda need the whole TV for each player just to keep up with what's going on.
