Tekken Tag Tournament 2 fans have uncovered several hidden characters on the disc, likely giving us an early look at upcoming DLC.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is just hitting stores, and already fans have discovered some hidden characters on the disc. These appear to be hints at upcoming downloadable content, distinct from the four characters that were already announced as the first DLC pack.

Joystiq reports that Dr. Bosconovitch, Unknown, Bob, Miharu, Sebastian, and Violet were uncovered, bringing the apparent total DLC roster up to 10. Now before you grab your torches and pitchforks (again), keep in mind that Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada has already promised any DLC characters will be delivered free-of-charge.

Harada took a hard stance against charging for DLC characters, couched in careful language not to insult Capcom in the process. Even so, he mentioned he understands why characters would be included on a disc, to avoid long download times and allow match-ups between those who do and don't have the DLC. This seems more like a move to progressively reignite interest with some new characters.

Harada was insistent that fighting characters are like "chess pieces," which was his main reason never to charge for them. Presumably, this means Namco Bandai has already done the balance work to make these characters fit into the game proper.

lol a better hdtv it looks even worse on one of those? i use a 27 true 120hz monitor for my gaming a S27A750D. my display is gorgeous the problem is the terrible resolution outputted by the game making it extremely pixelated. I could easily run the game at 1920x1080 and maybe even 100-120fps if they made it for pc.

Looking at the dlcs being offered for money these days, they're idiots for not charging for something that takes so much effort to do.

Strange you want them to charge for more characters?! IMO if its already been created while the game was being developed it should be no charge. DLC should be for when they didn't have time to create it so they did it later on, which this obviously they had the time to do. Not to mention $60 for a game isn't exactly cheap, its not like there not making a profit.

That's just BS PR talk. The $60 price point was also originally blamed on console licensing fee, so why are there $60 games on the PC now?

There's no real difference behind if they made it during or after. If they made it after they could've just left it out to be made later. DLC is DLC is DLC is milking the customer, it's just that sometimes a game's good enough to warrant buying these things.
