Our Mousing Future

Oh what the hell, just about everyone uses a mouse so why not give this a full item. ZDNet is carrying a story about the next-gen mouse that Apple is working on that doesnt even have any buttons. People are supposed to use a 'rocking motion' with the new device. They have the first image I've seen of the mouse you can check out. Also, Logitech is deploying a couple of optical mice in a couple of different designs. You can check out the story on AVault. I was a big fan of the MS optical mouse (precision is great) but couldnt get past the problems with flicking, maybe the Logitech guys fixed it? I've gotten a couple of emails from guys saying they already saw these on shelves, havent seen any myself.

  • Ok 97... mistake:

The new mouse of MAC is terrible... Now instead of having 3 buttons, they are trying to sell a 0 button mouse? It may sound better, but it is worse for playing games. After playing a few hours Diablo2, I bet I will damage and have smashed the mouse more than the monsters. The same treatement will happen to my table. On top of that, I can't imagine how accurate you can be while moving the entire mouse. Maybe you should lift it about 10 centimeters above ground and smashed it.

I am sure Steve Jobs will bring you your dream computer by 2002. MAC will be sold as a "no keyboard and mouse required" computer. You will control your computer with your eyeballs. You are probably not blind, but after using a MAC you will be.
