We've heard vague rumblings about the mobile game Assassin's Creed Utopia, but Ubisoft has taken the wraps off the tie-in title. It won't bear much resemblance to the main-line Assassin's Creed games, and will instead be a city-building strategy title set in the Colonial era. It's set for release this winter.

Eurogamer reports that the iOS and Android title has you building a 17th century assassin colony and managing it for 150 years, spanning the time between settlers and the revolution. It will feature asynchronous brawls with friends, or you can join up with them for battles.

Unlike Project Legacy, Ubisoft's last tie-in game, Utopia won't feed data back into the main Assassin's Creed 3 game. It will share narrative themes in common, and the company no doubt intends it as a cross-promotional tool, but the links between the two are just story beats.

I just imagined all the inhabitants of Assassinville assassinating each other.
