Natural Selection 2 exosuit stomps out

Oh yes, stomp out indeed, as it adds a mighty exosuit for the marines to go all Starship Troopers, along with a remake of the classic mod map NS_Veil.

The exosuit comes with two minigun-arms for six barrels of alien-cleansing firepower, though you can switch one out for a powerfist to biff aliens in the chops. Sitting at the top end of the tech tree, it replaces the original mod's Heavy Armour. While I am slightly sorry to see the end of the 'Heavy train' tactic, an eight-foot exoskeleton goes a long way to cheer me up.

The patch will also bring performance improvements, an overhauled physics system, a new commander UI, a hint system for newbies, bug fixes, and balance tweaks.

Though Unknown Worlds has sold pre-orders with Steam keys itself for yonks, the Steam store will start selling pre-orders on September 4. Instant access to the beta build for pre-orderers will stop when this happens, so you should grab it direct from UW soon if you want in.

      The only reason you won't be able to heavy train is that the comm no longer drops the goods.

      I don't think there's an artificial limit on how many of those can be in play. That'd be silly really.

        A large part of the joy (and effectiveness!) of the heavy train is rolling out a long line of supermarines who can heal each other, though, and I don't believe the exosuit can weld.

          Oh so you played NS too?

          NS1's a brilliant game. It's still alive but the game's not played at a high level anymore.

          As an alien player though, I don't miss a buncha heavies welding each other.

          How you like NS2?

          It never runs as well as in their videos for me. The maps also feel pretty cramped. Fade control used to be art, now it's not. Now heavy train's gone (kinda).

          But I'm still holding out hope of it being good. It's just happening really slowly.

            I still haven't played a full round of NS2. At first, and for ages, it ran so poorly that it wasn't even worth trying. Once it was finally running okay, I had a quick look but couldn't find servers with the right player balance or a good ping.

            It's beta; I'll try again later. Maybe soon, as I see this patch is out.

            I'm still not entirely sure of how everything things.

              Same story.

              As an og player, I have to believe in it. I'd rather if this was NS HD especially with their scarce resources, but I loved the game and support whatever gets made.

        yeah he can. they just re-added that this patch. takes tres now though instead of pres. not sure you'd want to heavy train anyways because exosuit mobility is extremely limited. can't use phase gates or be beaconed.
