After months of complaints, Battlefield 3 players will find it much easier to find official servers this weekend--but only on console. Developer DICE has "effectively quadrupled" the server architecture for the online game on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The Battlefield Blog warns that Quick Match will still just take you into any ranked server, so make sure you search for DICE in the manual browser to find it. "Remember that you can favorite servers that you like so you can easily find them again on your next session," the post notes.

Fans of EA's multiplayer shooter have consistently asked for more official servers, ever since console owners had the ability to rent and maintain their own servers, setting custom rules that many players dislike.

So I can finally play the game how it was originally designed? About time!

I'm curious who thought people would be okay with almost no official servers at all when they introduced server rentals.

They probably thought it was ok when they saw how much money they would save by not having them.

This is the content drop they were referring to. Weak.

"effectively" = added some ram, quadrupled virtual servers.

Need this for PC too, sick of customised servers with stupid rules and ridiculous instant spawn vehicles and stupid cap points increases.

Still my #1 desired feature for this game is to be able to blacklist some servers.
