              Basically, how P4 works is the game is divided into days. You have a bit over a year to complete the game. Each day you have a number of options. You can hang out with your friends and increase your Social Links, you can dungeon crawl, you can do activities that increase social stats and numerous other side activities. You have to complete each dungeon by the time it starts raining multiple days in a row. Basically, just ignore the dungeons until it rains. In dungeons, you have checkpoints every 5-10 or so floors that will set a warp point back if you want to take a break. Most floors also have a warp point that will warp you back to the entrance but won't give a warp back. You'll have to fight back through old floors. Overall, I never had to play more than a hour and a half to get to a checkpoint. Most of the time, I could quit after a half hour.
              
              If what you like about P4 A is how it handles characters, you'll LOVE P4. The appeal of that game lies almost completely in the characters and their stories. There's also a ton of side characters not shown in Arena that get their own awesome stories. I can't reccomend the game highly enough. If you do get a Vita, there's a ton of great PSP games you could check out as well. P3 Portable is pretty great. I also liked Corpse Party and The Legend of Heroes quite a bit as well. The Ys games are pretty great, short Action RPGs that are worth checking out as well. The best part is, most of these games can be bought for less than 20 bucks on PSN. Some get even cheaper with a good sale.
