New The World Ends With You project teased by Square Enix
by Andrew Yoon, Aug 20, 2012 3:30pm PDTThe World Ends With You, Square Enix's cult DS RPG game, may be getting a follow-up. Square Enix has launched a brand new Japanese teaser site with typography and music reminiscent of the classic title. Perhaps even more significant is the copyright at the bottom, which reveals Tetsuya Nomura and Gen Kobayashi's involvement--both were character designers in the original game.
Recently, Square Enix also published Kingdom Hearts 3D for the 3DS, which featured a cameo of Neku, the main character of the original DS game. It seems like the stars are aligning for a continuation of the franchise. Even Square Enix has expressed interest in making one.
However, as Tiny Cartridge points out, there's no guarantee this will be a sequel. "We still don't know if this will be a handheld/console release, a mobile-only affair, or what. Perhaps it's a collectible card game for Japanese arcades, who knows."
Check out the teaser site for yourself.
