Report: PSP outselling Vita 2-to-1
by Steve Watts, Aug 20, 2012 12:30pm PDTVita sales have never really taken off, even as Sony insists it's too early to cut the price. In fact, based on figures provided by Sony, it appears their last-generation handheld, PSP, is still outselling the Vita by more than a 2-to-1 margin.
CVG reports that the Vita sold about 400,000 units worldwide in the financial quarter between April and June of this year. Sony told investors that the two platforms combined sold about 1.4 million units during the quarter, which means the PSP itself sold one million units.
Keep in mind, these sales are for the most recent quarter, not a comparison of the PSP at the same point in its lifespan. The older system has a significant price advantage over the Vita now, not to mention a pretty hefty library of relatively cheap games.

Oh, and it doesn't help that the Internet is filled with so much anti-fanboyism for the Vita and Sony in general it kind of blows my mind. I don't even know WTF happened to their public image, it's not like they're EA or something.
Just makes me sad man, it's like watching the death of good gaming. People complain about no new consoles or games but when something new and good comes out they don't buy it and it bombs. What's gonna happen when next-gen finally comes out and the X720 or PS4 or whatever retails for $500-$600 at launch? I don't get it man, people drop $700 on a new iPad without blinking an eye even though they own the previous gen and it's only a marginal upgrade... marketing works I guess?
