Plants vs. Zombies 2 announced for 2013

Daft and unlikely rumours about PopCap making a multiplayer shooter spin-off of Plants vs. Zombies were circulating earlier this month, causing the sensible to groan sceptically. Well, a sequel is officially coming, PopCap announced today, though there was no mention of shooty-shoots--or much else for that matter.

Well, a sequel is officially coming, PopCap announced today, though there was no mention of shooty-shoots--or much else for that matter.

All PopCap would commit to was saying that it'll bring "new features, settings, and situations," including new plant and zombie types. It should launch in the first half of 2013, by late spring.

Platforms are unconfirmed, though expect it to hit just about everything. The original is on PC, Mac, XBLA, PlayStation 3, Vita, Nintendo DS, DSiWare, iOS, Android, and Windows Phone 7.

"Spring is crullest curlie ungood time, and plantz grow dull roots," an actual proper real zombie said in the announcement. "So, we are meating you for brainz at yore house. No worry to skedule schedlue plan... we're freee anytime. We'll find you."

Let's all cross our fingers and hope those shooter rumours were as silly as they seemed, while we sing, "There's a zombie on your lawn..."

Whoop! I bought this on a whim when it first came out. $10 on Steam? Why not? And there went a month of my life.

How many hours do you have logged? It's my most-played game on Steam with 146.6 hours.

My girlfriend alone has 451.6 hours logged in PvZ, but I know on more than one occasion, she had left the game open overnight on her laptop. Not sure how often it happens, but it's probably not too far off...

Yeah, my wife and I opened the Zen Garden and let our snail collect coins overnight on several occasions.

Remember, EA owns popcap so little hope of it coming to steam.

Why would I play it on a PC? Seriously wtf everyone knows that tablets are the only platform for this game.

Nah, EA releases stuff on Steam. Just not their mega ultra triple-A blockbusters.

Crysis 2 is back on Steam, for example.

Crysis 2 was not an EA in-house game. It was made by Crytek, and published by EA's partner program,
